I have been illustrating, designing and writing from the time I was 8 or 9. In my teens, I was one of the few who was part of a “pilot program” with the English and Art department called “Desktop Publishing” which included designing and newspaper and magazine layouts and writing accompanying articles. I was the assistant production manager, writer and in-house illustrator for my university newspaper “The Underground” and Editor-in-chief of its anthology book “Scarborough Fair”. I went on to become a Graphic Designer for John Wiley and Sons Canada, Ltd and now do freelance work, coaching and consulting. Here are some of the ways I can help you use technology in your business.

I love WordPress! I created my first blog using blogger in 2006 but didn’t like the design much. I was looking for a blogging program that created beautiful blogs. I found WordPress. I currently have 4 WordPress blogs and love the form, functionality and ease-of-use that WordPress provides. For any WordPress site and implementation here is the basic process:

Step 1: Planning and Design Stage: I need to know more about you, your business and what you want this website to accomplish. If you are hiring me on behalf of someone else, this information will be about your client’s needs and expectations. We’ll have a chat about your website, sales funnel and ways of generating leads etc. We’ll also decide on what other internet media, including social media, webinars etc. will be a right fit for your business.

Step 2: Creative and Technical Stages

• Set up the foundation
• Create graphics (which will be submitted until approved) or use graphics provided
• Configure membership, e-commerce and integrate other plug-ins
• Create content (which will be submitted until approved) or use content provided to me.

Step 3: Refine and Complete

• We review that all the work is completed to your standards.

I have worked directly with html and css for years. I even have a certificate in web design from which I graduated with honors in 2001. I would recommend you choose this option if:

1. You only want a “brochure” website. Which is something easy that you just want out on the web so you can refer people to so they can learn more about your services.
2. You are developing a website that needs lots of moving parts where hard coding is a necessity.

If you are interested in blogging or updating content regularly, then WordPress is much more cost effective and easier to use.

• Secure the domain name and hosting
• Write the html and css according to the design we’ve agreed upon

Step 4: Testing and Complete

• I will test the website and refine any issues.
